1. Wake up at the same time every day.

Your circadian rhythm aka the system that regulates your sleep cycle can cause your body to naturally wake up at a similar time every day, even on off days. If this isn’t something that happens to you, its OK to set an alarm keeping it out of reach, so you have to physically get up to turn it off. Avoid hitting the snooze as much as possible; this bad habit can cause confusion in the body, making you feel sluggish and foggy later, in addition to throwing off your internal clock.

Instead, try setting your alarm for the time you actually need or want to get up Consistency is KEY!

Keeping a schedule improves sleep. Therefore, going to bed at the same time every night is vital. And while you may enjoy all those extra hours you get to sleep in on weekends, make an effort to keep your routine, this is because a regular sleep schedule will allow you to sleep better — and have more energy in the long run.

Furthermore, aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night; that is the ideal amount for most adults. Sleeping more or less than that can cause low energy during the day. You may need to go to bed a little earlier to achieve this goal. On the light side of things, that means you'll have something in common with Warren Buffet, who's usually in bed before 10:00 p.m. Pretty Cool right?

2. Drink a glass of water.

At night, or during sleep you can get a little dehydrated. This makes sense, being that we dont have any water over the course of 8-10 hours. So, it’s extremely important to have a glass of water as soon as you get up. You’ll re-hydrate your fluids and this can assist in helping your metabolism run well throughout the day.

Water can also help wake you up and decrease feeling hungry.

3. Exercise.

Folks like J Lo, Oprah, and Arianna Grande all workout in the morning, and we get it!

Exercising during the day, especially in the morning, has a ton of benefits, including increasing your energy, boosting your metabolism, making you happier overall, and helping you sleep better. You don’t need to go for a long run to see some benefits — even just a few minutes of rigorous, aerobic exercise will yield results.

Your morning workout will also give you a sense of accomplishment and get you into a positive mindset for the day ahead.

4. Accomplish an important task.

What you decide to do depends on your personal and professional goals. You might take notes for a meeting or get started on a project. Whatever it is, you should choose an assignment that requires self-control and focus to achieve— it will help enable you to have a more productive day in general. By the end of the day, energy is diminished so accomplishing an important task now will mean you won’t have to do it later, when you’re tired and less willing or able to focus.

5. Meditate.

Meditation has many benefits, including promoting awareness, decreasing stress and anxiety, helping you sleep better, and promoting your well-being overall. That's probably why so many successful women, including Oprah and Arianna, add it to their morning agendas.

Meditating in the morning sets the right tone for the day and keeps you calm. Plus, if you meditate in the morning as opposed to later in the day, you’ll ensure that you actually do it, and you can check it off your to-do list early.

You don’t need to meditate for an hour; chances are, you don’t have time for that anyway. Even a few minutes can relax you and get you into a positive mindset. If you’re having trouble getting started, try a five-or 10-minute guided meditation. Like many other skills, meditation takes practice, so don’t be discouraged if you find your thoughts wandering at first.

6. Make a to-do list.

This is actually something you should do at night, based on what you need to accomplish the next day. You should check off items in the morning. Arianna sets her priorities for the day, so she can start accomplishing them right away.

Make a list of tasks you want to accomplish early, before you head to work. Because of you’ll have plenty of the aforementioned willpower, you’ll be able to check off items quickly.

Don’t make your list overly ambitious; the tasks should be meaningful and contribute to the overall success of your day, but still attainable. You don't want to feel discouraged if you can't get to everything on a list that's too long.

7. Practice breathing exercises.

Breathing can help to calm you down and get you energized all at the same time. It's meditative and can help you focus for the day ahead. It also eases stress, so whenever you have a big day ahead, you can come back to your breath to prepare yourself.

8. Energize with a cup of herbal tea.

Herbal Tea can help give you more sustained energy than coffee, without crashing.
